Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) plays a very crucial role in steel fabrication, power generation, petrochemical refineries, paper mills, aviation, mining industries in prevention of very costly undesired equipment failures which almost always, result in unplanned production losses.

The quality of new or existing equipment is measured/ tested by using different available methods and it’s achieved by routine planned checks/tests on equipment and mostly welded areas which at times due to different reasons, can start leaking, cracking (fatigue cracks, stress corrosion cracks, erosion, mechanical damage, etc).

The resulting implications from such failures differ from industry to industry, i.e. Petrochemical refineries – hazardous chemicals leaking from storage tanks/ vessels. Power generation – Steam generators failing to produce power due to unplanned tube leaks Train railway tests – derailments due to cracked rails
